Exciting Updates at Zayed International Airport

From February 9, Abu Dhabi’s airport will be renamed Zayed International Airport, as announced previously in October last year. The capital’s airport was recently crowned the world’s leading airport operator at The World Travel Awards and launched a new terminal, Terminal A in 2023.

Terminal A, previously known as the Midfield Terminal during the construction phase, covers 742,000 square metres, accommodates up to 11,000 passengers per hour which equates to a whopping 45 million passengers a year. Terminal A can operate 79 aircraft at a time. It’s also home to 163 food and beverage outlets as well as shopping options inside. Last year when it opened, Tom Cruise was one of the first people to fly in.

To celebrate the re-naming, Abu Dhabi airport will be hosting a range of celebrations from Friday February 9 to Sunday February 11 for travellers. This includes discounts and special offers on duty-free, in their restaurants, shops, and cafes. If you’re heading to the airport in Abu Dhabi, keep an eye out for live performances from international artists, crafted personal giveaways, and lots of other special surprises.

What’s new at Zayed International Airport

And there are even more reasons to use the soon-to-be-called Zayed International Airport, as Etihad recently announced a whole raft of new direct flight routes, including Nice and Boston. The airport has also added a new airline to bolster flights to China, courtesy of Hainan Airlines.
