The cheesiest dishes to try at Time Out Market Dubai

Time Out Market Dubai has a dish for every taste bud, but right now, we’re all about the gloriously versatile ingredient that is cheese.

You’ll find it in every cuisine from Lebanese to Indian, North American to Greek and of course, French.

Can’t get enough? Here’s what to order to fuel your cheesy dreams.

à la grecque

Feta sesame

Whoever invented the concept of putting honey on cheese deserves an award. And if you’re someone who loves a little sweetness with their savoury flavours, the feta sesame at à la grecque is a must-try. The delicious barrel-aged feta is wrapped in a filo pastry, which is then baked until crispy. They add Hellenic honey and sesame seeds, perfectly capturing that famous Greek culinary finesse all in one bite.

Fully loaded fries

You cannot go to Time Out Market and skip the fully loaded fries. Handcut potatoes are double-fried and topped with tomato sauce, and two types of cheese, including feta and mizithra, before being finished with oregano. Chef’s kiss.

Boon

Ham & cheese toastie

Boon specialises in premium organic Ethiopian coffee, but that doesn’t mean you should skip out on its fantastic foodie offering. If you like cheese but don’t want it to overwhelm your palate, try the ham and cheese toastie, made with Emmental cheese and airy sourdough bread. A perfect comfort dish.

Liban by Allo Beirut

Cheese rolls

Liban, from the popular Lebanese street food chain Allo Beirut, is all about nostalgia, and there’s nothing that shouts childhood treats like cheese rolls. Gloriously cheesy, these perfectly crispy puff pastry rolls are a hit on their own or slathered in velvety hummus for a crunchy, creamy texture mish-mash. A classic done well. More, please.

Masti

Burrata butter chicken

Your eyes do not deceive you – this is, in fact, a chicken and cheese curry. Love burrata? (because let’s face it, who in Dubai doesn’t). Love butter chicken? Say hello to Masti’s burrata butter chicken. It’s as decadent as it sounds – charcoal-roasted chicken tikka slathered in a rich and creamy makhani sauce and topped with equally rich and creamy burrata. A humble curry this is not.

Mattar

Brisket grilled cheese

Meat, bread and cheese. The winning combo, obviously. Order the stacked brisket grilled cheese and you’ll get vintage cheddar, a pile of mozzarella and a mound of brisket that is barely contained between two toasted slices of sourdough. Get in line.

Mac ’n’ cheese

You’re mainly coming to Mattar for the smoked meat, but while you’re there don’t deny yourself a dollop of the mac ’n’ cheese. The moreish dish is a hit as a side – or you can add three slices of 14-day brined pastrami to your order for the perfect meat and cheese combination. One that will keep you going.

Odeon

Cheese platter

Fond of fromage? Odeon is the place in Time Out Market to get your hands on cheese. The real deal. The top quality European kind. Hard, soft, truffle and so many more. The best part is, when ordering a platter, you get to choose which cheese you want. You can also add cold cuts like salami, bresaola and more. After that, it’s topped with dried fruits, nuts and crackers.

Onda by Alici

Burrata salad

Dubai’s love for burrata shows no bounds, with the luxuriously creamy cheese ubiquitous on menus across town. And if you’re at Time Out Market Dubai you’ll be treated to a lip-smacking version at Onda. The concept from the team at Alici, also the same operators of Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, are plating up a superb burrata salad – served with organic heirloom tomatoes, and basil oil for a flash of colour and texture. Feeling extra? Zhoosh it up with black truffle for an additional Dhs30 or caviar for Dhs35.

Pickl

Cheeseburger

It’s no secret that the home-grown burger brand, Pickl, is the place to go for one of the cheesiest dishes in the market. With a menu of very tempting selections, sometimes you just need to go with a classic. And the cheeseburger is a good place to start. One of Pickl’s most ordered dishes, you can expect juicy meat patties in a soft potato bun with creamy melted cheese and a generous serving of pickles.

Pitfire

Pepperoni Primo

Slinging out epic New York-style pizzas, Pitfire’s Pepperoni Primo is the cheesiest of the bunch. The brand’s signature pie, the Peperoni has a tomato sauce base and is loaded with pepperoni or spicy salami, But what about the cheese? We hear you – and so do the pizza experts at Piftire. A special cheese blend is layered on top of the pillowy base. Delicious.

SLAB Cocina

Truffle chicken empanadas

Like empanadas? Like truffle? Like cheese? Put them together and you’ll soon find one plate of SLAB truffle chicken empanadas is just the beginning. These Parmesan and shaved truffle-covered pastry parcels come filled with an aji Amarillo pulled chicken filling and a sharp, sweet kalamata olive dip. Cheesy and wonderful.

Nachos Supreme

The name gives it away, this is a biggie. Slightly cheesier than most nachos you’ll likely come across and we think we could devour the lot (we bet you could do it too). Think fried corn tortilla, with queso, pickled jalapeno, diced tomatoes, spring onion, sour cream, coriander, refried beans and your choice of chicken chorizo, chicken tinga or beef bira all covered in cheese sauce. Hello, nachos grande.
