Public sector workers have already been told they will technically get seven days off (nine days if you count this coming weekend) – an extra long Eid weekend in Dubai.

Celebrate with a brunch that’s fit for the occasion. A feast of Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East flavours awaits you at Arrazuna. There are live kitchens, where you can expect shawarma, fish, grills and flatbreads. You also get a buffet of desserts including the classic baklava and kunafa. And an assortment of dishes will be served to the table including olives, cheese platters, dates, hummus plates and breads.

Dress up and head to one of the two Barbecue Delights branches for a feast this Eid. They have a buffet with soups and salads, a live chaat counter, starters, barbecue, main course and desserts. But the celebration isn’t just about the food. There’ll be someone on hand to draw henna tattoo on hands and there’ll be bangle giveaways too.

Giggle at Dubai Comedy Festival

Nothing’s better than laughing out loud and should you need an excuse to, Dubai Opera is providing plenty. It’s hosting the Dubai Comedy Festival between Friday April 12 and Sunday April 21and drawing talent from across the globe. So who’s heading onto the stage? Well, there’s American Chris Distefano, French-Moroccan Gad Elmaleh, Palestinian-American Amer Zahr, husband and wife duo Spencer & Vogue, Indian Anubhav Singh Bassi and British trio Mo Gilligan, Frank Skinner and Al Murray.

One of the world’s biggest dance music festivals is coming to Dubai – are you ready to party? The fest, on Saturday April 13, will see Australian music producer and DJ Fisher, best known for songs Losing It and You Little Beauty. Other headliners include English DJ and record producer Eats Everything, Scottish DJ Arielle Free, De La Swing of Break The Mirror fame and Just Be musician Toni Varga.

If you like Filipino stars Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo, you are in for a treat. The duo is coming over to Dubai and will be playing at Coca-Cola Arena for one night only, on Sunday April 14.

Egyptian actor-singer Mohamed Ramadan is gearing up for a gig this April. He’ll be performing his hit singles such as Ya Habibi, Tik Tok, and Champion.

Move your feet at Afroworld

You may not be able to stop your feet from moving when you head to this concert on Thursday April 11. The headline act, Rema, a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter is known for catchy tunes that you just can’t get out of your head. Like Calm Down. And Dumebi.

Sway to the sounds of Dariush

Mononymous Persian musician Dariush is coming to Dubai for a special performance. Expect a roster full of classics such as Be Man Nagoo Dooset Daram and Dastaye To. The Iranian singer-songwriter was introduced to his fans in 1971 and his following has only grown. His first single was Don’t Tell Me You Love Me.

Listen to Saad Lamjarred belt out his hits

Moroccan pop singer Saad Lamjarred is coming to the city. Expect to hear his chart-topping track Lm3allem, which holds the Guinness World Record for the most-watched Arabic music video on YouTube to date. Joining him on Friday April 12 will be Lebanese DJ Rodge.

Watch ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’

It’s time to say hello again to Po (played by the hilarious Jack Black) in Kung Fu Panda 4, which is being released regionally on Thursday April 11. This time, he’s all set to hang up his mantle of Dragon Warrior (after he finds a replacement) and become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. Only, he doesn’t know much about spiritual leadership and a wicked sorceress seems to be on the horizon. Watch Po navigate the trenches of leadership with the whole family – and prepare for a good laugh.
