Dune: Part Two is one of the biggest blockbusters of the year and it’s hard not to be captivated by the vast sand dunes on the big screen.
And we’re lucky enough to have quite a lot of desert escapes close to Dubai where we can pretend, for just a moment, that we’re on the desert planet of Arrakis featured in the epic sci-fi series.

Included in these, but the furthest away from Dubai in this list, is the actual location featured in both Dune and Dune: Part Two of the Liwa Desert.
With Eid Al Fitr on the horizon, there’s no better time for an escape from the city life and why not get a little taste of Hollywood while you’re at it?
Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa
Driving time: 1 hour.
This luxurious resort might only be an hour’s drive from Dubai Marina, but it couldn’t feel further from the city. All Bedouin Suites have plunge pools and you’ll spot loads of wildlife as you relax in the sun.

Jebel Hafeet Desert Park
Driving time: 1 hour and 45 minutes.
You’ll get to stay in an air-conditioned bubble, dome tent or traditional Bedouin-style quarters at this spot. Located within one of the cultural sites of Al Ain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there’s lots to explore. A great place for mountain views and nights of stargazing.

Liwa Desert
Driving time: 3 hours
It is home to colossal and highly territorial sandworms in the fictional world, but off-screen it’s a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Located on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi, you can book full desert safaris and overnight camping at the same place where nearly a month of shooting took place for Dune: Part Two.

Terra Solis
Driving time: 35 minutes.
With a massive central pool surrounded by dunes, it’s the ideal place to feel immersed in the desert. For those who want a glamping experience, one of 48 Polaris tents can be booked. There’s also a chance to check into one of 20 Perseid lodges. Ultimate luxury can be found in the Orion Pool Lodge options that there are six of and they sound swanky as they come with a private pool, a spacious large terrace, and views over the entire resort. On the weekends you can expect it to be a party place as it hosts live DJ sets.

The Starlight Camp UAE
Driving time: 1 hour.
This pop-up glamping experience is one you’ll remember forever. Guests stay in a crystal-topped tent which means you can stargaze from your bed. The location is secret so, you know it’s pretty secluded.

The Nest
Driving time: 45 minutes.
The Nest is a camping experience for those who are fans of creature comforts. Each ‘nest’ is complete with a dreamy bedroom area, private en-suite bathroom, outdoor majlis and your own dedicated Mudeef. There are also gourmet food options.
