Grab your helmet and let’s get going!
Before you use a Careem bike:
In order to have a safe cycling trip, it’s important to know some basic safety information:
Firstly, always make sure you bring a helmet if you are hiring a bike, and wear bright colours especially if riding at night.
Secondly, once you have unlocked a bike through the Careem app, check the brakes, tyres and height of your seat before setting off.
Finally, give way to pedestrians if needed, and use hand signals to alert others where you are heading.
Happy cycling!
The best routes to go on a Careem bike in Dubai
Dubai Creek
Spend the day in old Dubai. Start by picking up a bike outside the Gold Souk Metro station in Deira and head along past the traditional markets.
From there, you can cycle along the water’s edge before looping back through the streets and parking back up at where you started.
It’s worth noting that there is not a designated cycle path on this route, but there are walkways you can use.
Dubai Canal
This route is a very peaceful one, taking you away from the main roads for most of it. Start by picking up a bike around Business Bay, and join onto the Dubai Canal walkway in front of the Radisson Blue Hotel (Dubai Waterfront).
Start pedalling towards Jumeirah and enjoy the relaxed pace as you pass some of the new buildings coming to the area. Look out over the canal and eventually you will reach Jumeirah Beach.
If you want to go further, dock your bike, cross the footbridge to the other side at Sheikh Zayed Road, and pick up another at the other side. From there, you can keep going all the way to Kite Beach if you fancy it.
Dubai Marina to Kite Beach
It’s a long cycle, but wow are you going to enjoy it. Start by picking up a bike in Dubai Marina or Media City, and set off along the cycle path on Jumeirah Beach Road.
There is a safe designated cycling path for almost the entire length of this journey, and you can reward yourself with some refreshments at Kite Beach when you arrive.
A point to note, you will be charged an additional AED10 for every 30 mins you go over the 45-minute hire time from Careem. The route takes around 60-90 minutes to complete, so consider stopping and docking for a break on the journey to avoid charges.
Dubai Marina
A slightly shorter route, if you are in the mood for a quick leisurely pedal followed up by an iced latte, this is the one.
Pick up a bike at any of the multiple stops around the Dubai Marina footpath, and use the dedicated bike and scooter lane to wind around the water’s edge.
You can go up and down one side of the Marina, or all the way round by taking your bike over the bridges. However, be aware that you are not permitted to cycle in a certain section of the walkway outside Dubai Marina Mall.
Jumeirah Lake Towers
A similar feel to the Dubai Marina route, JLT has another dedicated cycle path to let you wind around the lakes.
If you’re heading out during the day, why not stop for lunch at one of the endless local cafes and restaurants – you’ll have definitely worked up an appetite.

There are multiple docking stations in JLT, however the easiest to access if you’re coming from outside JLT is outside the DMCC Metro Station.
