May 31 : Watch Hans Zimmer Live

Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is bringing his live show back to Dubai. The man behind the soundtracks to Dune, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lion King is set to perform at the Coca-Cola Arena. Tickets go on sale on Friday February 23 for the World of Hans Zimmer tour which comes hot on the heels of Dune: Part Two’s release.

Dubai events: June

June 14 – July 14: Get in the Euro 2024 spirit at McGettigan’s

One of the biggest football tournaments in the world is set to kick off this summer – and Dubai is ready for the party. Euro 2024 will see the best national teams in Europe compete for national pride and the European Championship crown. McGettigan’s has arranged for a huge fanzone in the Media City where you can see every kick of a ball starting with Scotland against Germany on Friday June 14 – and there are tonnes of other venues also showing the matches.

June 7 – June 8: Get soaked at WATERBOMB Festival

One of the biggest music festivals in South Korea is coming to Dubai this summer. Some of the biggest names in EDM and K-pop including Jessi and TripleS will take to the stage at Dubai Festival City on Friday June 7 and Saturday June 8, with tickets now on sale. The unique festival is perfect for the hot summer months as it combines partying with a huge competitive water fight. It has taken South Korea by storm and is going on a world tour with Dubai being its first stop in the Middle East.

June 15: Watch Jason Derulo live on tour

American singer-songwriter Jason Derulo’s rescheduled concert will now be held at the Coca-Cola Arena on June 15. His Dubai show will be the final date on his global tour this year. The star has sold more than 200 million records globally and has been a constant on playlists since bursting onto the scene in 2009. Tickets start from Dhs199 for the show.

June 22: French Montana

French Montana

French Montana, with his electrifying energy and chart-topping hits like “Unforgettable”, “Pop That”, and “No Shopping”, will set the stage ablaze. Joining him in this lineup are international sensations Mustafa Ceceli, the heartthrob of Turkey’s music scene, and December Avenue, the beloved Filipino pop/alternative stars, alongside the sensational Amanda Maalouf.

Sept 13: Rock on at Apocalyptica

World-renowned Finnish cello rockers Apocalyptica will be in Dubai to pay tribute to one of the biggest bands of all time, Metallica. On Friday September 13, The Agenda in Dubai Media City will be the second stop on Apocalyptica’s extensive tour, appearing in Dubai for the first time. Tickets start from Dhs299 for the event.

Oct 4: Go to see Macklemore

Grammy-winning superstar Macklemore will be taking to the stage at Coca-Cola Arena. The American “Thrift Shop” rapper is set to bring a dynamic blend of hip-hop and pop to Dubai with a show like no other.

Oct 25: Catch Romesh Ranganathan live at Coca-Cola Arena

The deadpan and self-deprecating British comedian Romesh Ranganathan is bringing his new live show to the Coca-Cola Arena on Friday October 25. The former maths teacher has become one of the most recognisable names in the UK comedy scene since quitting his role in education. Tickets are now on sale from Dhs195.

Oct 25 – 27: Dubai Active

Coming back from the summer months, the weekend-long event will focus on celebrating fitness and wellness. Hosting fitness and yoga classes, nutrition talks and special meet and greets with celebrity trainers, around 35,000 people are expected to take part.

Ticket registration is now open for Dubai Active, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Nov 9 – Nov 10: Dance all day at Defected

Defected Dubai 2023

The house-music festival saw huge crowds in 2023, and will now return to Dubai in November 2024.
Taking over Soul Beach in Jebel Ali, partygoers can dance the night away on the sand as they get lost in the music.

The festival will even open up the pool at the beach club, letting you cool off before heading back to the DJ decks.

Nov 22: Get nostalgic at B*Witched

B*Witched will take to the stage at The Irish Village venue near Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Garhoud on Friday November 22. Irish girl group B*Witched shot to fame with their debut earworm C’est la Vie in 1998 (we’re sorry in advance if you can’t get it out of your head for the rest of the day). It will be their first show in Dubai since their Jump Jump Down tour at the turn of the millennium. A co-headliner will be announced soon.

If you’ve been in Dubai for a while, you’ll be no stranger to the sporting festival of the year. Indeed, Emirates Airline Dubai 7’s is the largest sports and entertainment festival in the Middle East, and this year it promises to be even better than ever before. Teasing better music, bigger sport and bolder entertainment, we’re sure this one will be great.

Check-in to new hotel Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab

Jumeirah Group is planning to double its luxury portfolio by 2030, part of that masterplan comes the Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab which is opening towards the end of the year. The new resort, inspired by the shape of a super yacht, is being built in Jumeirah (near to the brand’s famous Beach Hotel and Burj Al Arab).

Sitting beside the other two venues, the new resort will have its own stretch of private beach and will include 386 rooms along with 83 hotel apartments and a three-storey spa. Naturally, being a Jumeirah hotel, there will be a number of brilliant restaurants opening with it, though these are yet to be released.

With new hotels opening, new restaurants launching and events you might already want to have on your radar for the 2025 editions (yes, really), here’s a quick recap of Dubai highlights so far this year.

Jan 1: Book a room at the One&Only One Za’abeel

The first-ever “vertical urban resort” from ultra-luxury hospitality brand One&Only is set to welcome guests from Monday January 1, with prices starting at Dhs3,500 per night. Hotel developer Kerzner (also the team behind Atlantis Dubai) is gearing up to unveil the new hotel, which will house the UAE’s longest infinity pool, 11 incredible new restaurants and 229 rooms and suites.

Rising above the city’s Za’abeel neighbourhood, overlooking the Dubai skyline, the resort is located in one of the dual skyscrapers that are dramatically intersected by the world’s longest cantilever (panoramic sky podium). This is called The Link – a boulevard floating 100 metres above the street.

Jan 7: Watch Omid Djalili’s comedy gig

British-Iranian actor and comedian Omid Djalili will be performing live in Dubai in 2024. Presented by DXB Live, this comedy powerhouse will be returning to the city to perform his critically acclaimed new show NAMASTE in Dubai World Trade Centre, Rashid Hall. During this hilarious, eye-opening show, Djalili will humorously express his inner anger towards the current state of the world.

With three decades of comedy under his belt, this comic is renowned for his witty on-stage performances. He has won several awards for his stand-up comedy, including the Time Out Award for Best Stand-Up and the EMMA Award. Djalili has also been nominated for the Perrier Award and the South Bank Award.

Jan 7: Take part in the Dubai Marathon

The Middle’s East’s first and oldest international marathon is returning to the streets of Dubai in early 2024. Taking place on Sunday January 7, this is a highlight of the Middle East’s sporting calendar. If the distance puts you off, never fear, because this event features three race distances – a full marathon (42.195km), a 10km race and a 4km fun run. All three marathon editions will start and finish on Umm Suqeim Road, with runners registering close to the Dubai Police Academy. The route, meanwhile, will incorporate a distance along Jumeirah Beach Road and pass in the shadows of Burj Al Arab.

Jan 13: Laugh out loud to Michael McIntyre

One of Britain’s most famous comedians, Michael McIntyre is playing at the Coca-Cola Arena on Saturday January 13. McIntyre rose to fame after performing at the Royal Variety Performance in 2006, after performing on the UK’s comedy circuit since 1999. Since then, he has performed at BBC One’s Live at the Apollo three times, performed sell-out world tours and appeared on several TV shows (including Britain’s Got Talent).

In 2020 he released a headline Netflix special that went down as the most-watched comedy show on the streaming service for the entire year. Currently, McIntyre is presenting his own Saturday night show Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel and is on his world tour, phew.

Jan 19-20: Sing along to Ed Sheeran

In case you somehow missed the news, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is playing two gigs in Dubai on Friday January 19 and Saturday January 20. The indie star will perform his +– = ÷ x Mathematics Tour not once, but twice in Dubai. Taking place at the Sevens Stadium, they will be Dubai’s biggest-ever open-air concerts, and though tickets for the Saturday night are already sold out, you can still bag them for the Friday. It’s one of those very special Dubai events you don’t want to miss.

Performing in ‘the round’, fans can expect a (relatively) intimate experience as they will be positioned around the singer. Not only that, but he’ll be supported by special guest Calum Scott, who rose to fame on Britain’s Got Talent with his cover of Robyn’s Dancing on My Own and has since released two albums, Only Human and Bridges.

Jan 31- Feb 6: Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

One for bookworms. The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature will return for its 16th edition from Monday January 31 to Wednesday February 6. Both international and local authors will descend on InterContinental in Festival City and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library for a series of talks, workshops and masterclasses.

The line-up includes Miral Al-Tahawy, Saud Alsanousi, behavioural expert Thomas Erikson and shoe designer Sophia Webster among others. Little booklovers can head to the LitFest Families section, which will have children’s storytellers and illustrators from around the world, along with events around an Arabic culture theme.

Feb 2-24: Celebrate Chinese New Year in Dubai

The Lunar New Year is upon us as celebrations take place across the world to commemorate the Year of the Dragon. We have a comprehensive list of all the best places and deals to mark the occasion. Expect fireworks, dragon dances and Chinese rituals as well as some of the finest food the emirate has to offer.

Feb 15-18: Party at UNTOLD Dubai

In case you’ve somehow missed the huge news (so huge, in fact, that it was projected onto the Burj Khalifa), UNTOLD Dubai 2024 is going to be the biggest music festival the city has ever seen. The four-day-long event is taking place at Expo City between Thursday February 15 to Sunday February 18. UNTOLD will transform Expo City into a fully immersive experience with a huge line-up of music spanning genres.

From G-Eazy’s rap to British singer Ellie Goulding’s synth-pop and the EDM beats of Major Lazer, Armin Van Buuren and Hardwell, there will be loads going on. Tickets will give partygoers four-day access to the event, and there’s the option for VIP access from Dhs1,200 per person.

Feb 15-Feb 25: See a world champion crowned at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

The FIFA beach soccer World Cup will be held in the Dubai Design District. Sixteen countries will come together to crown the champion of the beach version of the beautiful game in February. Five-time champions Brazil will be sure to bring some samba flair to the capital while Japan and Portugal are also among the favourites. Tickets are still available for most of the tournament but the final is sold out.

Feb 18-Mar 2: Watch the action at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships

Some of the world’s best tennis players will descend on The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in February to battle it out for the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium Championship. It’s one of the most famous Dubai events, owned and organised by Dubai Duty Free and held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Last year saw Novak Djokovic and Olympic Gold medallist Alexander Zverev on the line-up so watch this space to see who will be hitting the courts in 2024.

Feb 23-Mar 3: Go to Sikka Art & Design Festival

If you go down to Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood between Friday February 23 and Wednesday March 3, you’ll find the alleyways taken over with creativity. That’s because Sikka Art and Design Festival is setting up there and bringing an explosion of local art, music and food with it. Rooted in culture, there will be art installations, free workshops, food stands, film screenings and music performances that work together to paint a picture of the city. Designed to champion the local art scene, the 12th edition of the festival will be releasing a full line-up of events closer to the time. So, if you’re into the arts, this is one to watch.

Feb 23-25: Eat your way around Taste of Dubai

Dubai’s annual foodie festival will be back in 2024, at a new location. This year, the three-day event will take place at Skydive Dubai. Not been before? Celebrity chefs and home-grown restaurant concepts descend on one venue to serve food from pop-ups. Throughout the event, the chefs also host masterclasses and workshops. But more than just (seriously) tasty food, there are lots of family-friendly activities including play areas, games and live music. There will also be a VIP package for those wanting exclusive access to a lounge.

Feb 27: Rock out to Simple Minds

Scottish rock band Simple Minds will take to Coca-Cola Arena’s stage in City Walk in February. The group, Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, Gordy Goudie, Ged Grimes, Cherisse Osei and Sarah Brown, will perform on Tuesday February 27 as part of their Global Tour.

Named after a lyric – ‘so simple minded’ – from David Bowie’s seminal 1972 single The Jean Genie, Simple Minds have become one of the UK’s most successful bands, selling over 60 million records worldwide, having number one singles on both sides of the Atlantic, and number one albums the world over, including five UK number one albums: Sparkle In The Rain (1984), Once Upon A Time (1985) and Street Fighting Years as well as the concert recording Live In The City Of Light (1987) and the compilation Glittering Prize 81/92.

Visit new hotel The Lana

Looking for somewhere new to staycation? The Lana (by the Dorchester Collection) is opening during February, taking up residence in the huge block-shaped building in Business Bay. With 225 rooms and Burj Khalifa views, this is set to be one of the most luxurious openings of the year. Interior designers Gilles et Boissier have drawn inspiration from the waters of Business Bay and Emirati culture to create a uniquely designed space spanning 30 floors. Along with a large rooftop pool, there will also be an evening restaurant and a patisserie housed inside the chic exteriors.

Feb 28: Witness the world’s first jet suit race

Dubai will be the first city in the world to host a jet suit race. It will see competitors take to the skies without the aid of an aircraft but instead using jet engines strapped to their backs to navigate a predetermined course. The race will be part of the Dubai Boat Show. We’re not sure words can do justice to just how wild this sounds.

Feb 29: see AP Dhillon in Dubai

Canadian singer and rapper AP Dhillon will play at the Coca-Cola Arena in February. Full name Amriptal Singh Dhillon, AP Dhillon is an Indian-Canadian who started his career in 2019. with his single Fake. Using music to transcend genres, the musician wanted to appeal to a global Indian audience.

In 2020, he had his first hit single Brown Mundane which went to number one on Spotify India. The same year, his single Deadly did well on the UK Asian charts. The singer then went on to release Majhail with Gurinder Gill and Manni Sandhu which became a hit on the Punjabi chart.

Since then, AP Dhillon has garnered over five billion streams across all platforms and has sold out arenas worldwide.

Workout at SIRO One Za’abeel

Fitness fanatics will have a new place to work out and stay early 2024. That’s because Dubai is getting its first fitness hotel near Dubai World Trade Centre. SIRO One Za’abeel will be operated by Kerzner International – who are the owners of the iconic Atlantis Resorts & Residences and ultra-luxury One&Only Resorts brands. Standing for Strength, Inclusive, Reflection and Original, SIRO will blend fitness, mindfulness and wellness under one roof. At the hotel, you will be able to take part in activities including cycling, sailing, hiking, boxing, climbing, kite surfing, parkour, and skiing. Back for its 17th edition, major new commissions and premieres by internationally renowned artists are expected at Art Dubai. One of the world’s biggest ‘80s and ‘90s music festivals is making a comeback in March, this time, for a two-day event. Taking place at Bla Bla once again, the line-up will feature ABC, Midge Ure, The Real Thing, Heather Small, Chesney Hawkes, Wet, Wet, Wet and more. Put on in collaboration with Live Nation Middle East. It will return to the party JBR spot on Friday March 1 and Saturday March 2, 2024.

Mar 4: See funnyman Kevin Hart

You can see American comedian Kevin Hart in Dubai for one night only at the Coca-Cola Arena on Monday March 4. Born in Philadelphia, Hart began his career at amateur comedy nights. In 2001, he was cast in the TV series Undeclared, which sparked a series of film roles, including Think Like A Man (2012) and Jumanji (2017). In 2009, Hart began touring as a stand-up comedian and growing his following on social media. Along with being a star on screen and stage, the comedian’s autobiography I Can’t Make This Up: Life Lessons lauded him as a New York Times best-selling author.

Mar 8: See Khalid at the Coca-Cola Arena

Multi-platinum-selling global superstar Khalid will be performing in Dubai in March. The American singer and songwriter will take to the stage at Coca-Cola Arena on Friday March 8. The superstar rose to fame after the release of his debut studio album American Teen in 2017. An instant hit, it was certified four times platinum and scored 20 top singles.

Khalid then went on to receive a Grammy Award nomination after featuring on Logic’s song 1-800-273-8255 and, in 2019, he received another nomination for his song Talk. He has received multiple accolades including four more Grammy Award nominations, six Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards and an MTV Video Music Award.

Mar 30: Get dressed up for Dubai World Cup

The thunder of hooves, the cheer of racegoers, the explosions of the fireworks – Dubai World Cup is big, loud and an incredible day out. It’s one of the most hotly anticipated events in both the city’s sporting and social calendars, and if you haven’t experienced the thrill of a raceday, well, your chance is coming up. This year marks the 28th running of the the Dubai World Cup and the season finale is taking place on Saturday March 30 at Meydan Racecourse. It’s one of the biggest sporting events in the region – and one of the most famous horse races on the planet. One to get dressed up for, make sure you don your finest glad rags when heading here. And no, you don’t need to be an expert or seasoned race goer to enjoy it. It’s basically just an excuse to wear a nice outfit and soak in the atmosphere.

Look out for the new hotel FIVE Luxe

In case you’ve missed it, there’s a new (huge) FIVE Hotel & Resorts property in Jumeirah Beach Residence. Though not open yet, the FIVE LUXE JBR is set to throw open its doors early in 2024.

Located in JBR, where the Corinthia Meydan used to be, it looks set to be the city’s newest party hotel. The large beachfront hotel will have 222 rooms and suites, along with 276 residential apartments and seven restaurants. Situated on a 14,000 sq. ft. stretch of private beach, there will also be a Beach Club and Social Pool as well as Lío Ibiza, a club. Owned by Pacha, Lío is known for its avant-garde take on cabaret. After initially opening in Ibiza, the concept has outlets in London, Las Vegas and Mykonos.

Dine out at J1 Beach

Taking the place of La Mer, J1 Beach will be a dining district with 13 luxury beachfront dining and club experiences. The 500-metre shoreline strip will include Mediterranean restaurant African Queen, headed up by chef Thierry Paludett, Lebanese-Armenian fusion restaurant Almayass by the Sea, and an outpost of Bâoli, which serves Asian cuisine. Other restaurants joining the line-up include Chouchou, Gigi Rigolatto, Gitano, Kaimana, La Baia, LÚNICO, Mūn, Sakhalin and Sirene by Gaia. The final outpost is yet to be revealed, but if the others are anything to go by, it will be a luxury dining experience.

April 12 – 21: Have a laugh at the Dubai Comedy Festival

There will be a plethora of the biggest names in comedy descending on the emirate as the Dubai Comedy Festival returns. Tickets are yet to go on sale but the first batch of headliners have been announced. Top comedians Al Murray, Gad Elmaleh, and Bassi will all perform at Dubai Opera with big names still to be announced for Coca-Cola Arena.

Apr 13: Dance the day away at Elrow XXL

Attention, ravers. Elrow is coming back to Dubai for a huge outdoor festival next year. Elrow Dubai XXL is hitting the Middle East on Saturday April 13 and will take place at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. What began as a social club in Madrid 148 years ago, Elrow is now a global techno and house music festival. The Dubai iteration will be an outdoor day festival with a capacity of 12,000 people. So far, the line-up is yet to be revealed, but last year, UK DJ and actor Idris Elba headlined alongside Sonny Fodera, Armand Van Helden and Wade. Stay tuned to Time Out Dubai to see the 2024 line-up when it’s announced.

April 28: Swoon for Boyz II Men at Coca-Cola Arena

American R&B legends Boyz II Men are returning to Dubai in April for a night of harmonies and melodies. The group are revered in their homeland of the United States having won four Grammy awards, nine American Music Awards, nine Soul Train Awards, three Billboard awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Tickets start from Dhs199.

May 19: Get involved at the DXB Snow Run

Already feeling the heat? This is one way to cool you down, as the chilly event gets going on Sunday. Ski Dubai will be hosting its DXB Snow Run on the slopes on May 19. Open to ages 13-70, you can sign up solo or in a team of five for the challenge, which is either a 3km or 5km run.

Although a chillier affair, running through the snow isn’t easy, so expect to be put through your paces as you climb up and down the mini, man-made mountain. Registration closes May 16.

May 24: Sing-along with James Blunt

James Blunt is coming to Dubai

English singer-songwriter James Blunt is bringing his latest tour to the Coca-Cola Arena. Perhaps best known for his breakthrough single You’re Beautiful, the popstar has gone from strength-to-strength in the past two decades with the performer delving into pop, folk, and rock. Tickets for his show start from Dhs150 and are on sale now.
