The exact dates that Eid Al Adha falls revolve around the Islamic calendar, which follows the cycle of the moon, so it varies every year.

An update from the Emirates Astronomy Society predicts the start of Dhu al-Hijjah, the month in which Eid Al Adha falls, to be Friday June 7. This follows the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Qi’dah on Wednesday May 8.

At present, the Day of Arafat is predicted to fall on Sunday June 16 and the following day will mark the start of Eid Al Adha, a three-day public holiday in the UAE.

Public holidays are marked by both the public and private sectors in the UAE. However, the exact amount of time off work depends on when exactly the holiday falls. Once this is determined, the UAE Government will announce which days will be a public holiday.

However, if you are looking to make the most of your time off, you can use your annual leave to your advantage for a lengthy break.

If current astronomical predictions are correct, you could take 9 days off by using just 2 days of your holiday allowance.

If you want a short haul flight, you could head to the likes of the Seychelles or Georgia in just 3 hours, or end up in Mumbai in 4 hours.

Or if you’re staying firmly in the UAE then you’re in luck, as hotels across the Emirates have some incredible Eid staycation deals, giving you everything from impressive discounts to spa vouchers.

Staying put in Dubai for Eid? Lucky you — there’s loads to get up to over the holiday, from relaxing spa deals to family fun. As the weather heats up, try moving indoor to the likes of Adventure Island, a newly opened laser tag attraction, or take the kids for a whizz around at Chaos Karts.

The holiday should fall slap-bang in the middle of the Euros too, so if you’re a football fan then it can’t get much better. From big screens to footy-themed food deals, you can kick-off the long-weekend in style.

Or if you’re searching for something adults-only, why not check out a few happy hours across the city, unwind with a full spa day deal or take full advantage of a redeemable pool day to cool off from those pesky summer temperatures.
