A great animation for the little ones, the cartoon follows the story of one young girl in ancient China, who is tasked with finding the last remaining dragon egg and fulfilling her destiny. Running for just over 90 minutes, the movie is a great way to keep the kiddos entertained out of the hot summer heat.

June 6 – The Watchers

Not for the faint-hearted, The Watchers follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped, alongside three strangers, who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night. Starring Dakota Fanning, the horror storyline should give audiences a good scare. Can you handle it?!

A different film from the franchise will be screened each week, and the next one in the line-up is The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), starring Andrew Garfield, on June 8.

The story follows the lives of two very different men from opposite ends of the world, who end up crossing paths in an unlikely way. It’s not often a Belarusian soldier on the run gets entangled with a Nigerian guerilla fighter, but you can watch it all play out at Cinema Akil this month.
