It highlights art based on light, sound and touch, further offering an interactive experience where visitors can move in and out of rooms and communicate with art pieces forming one borderless world of creativity. It’s the first-ever permanent teamLab museum to launch in the Middle East.
What can you see and do at teamLab Borderless Jeddah?
The new museum comprises of the Borderless World, Athletics Forest, Future Park, Forest of Lamps as well as En Tea House, exhibiting over 80 independent yet intricately interrelated works.
The artworks in the exhibitions are created by using teamLab digital technology. The new museum also features a children’s section focused on science and arts education.
Here, we’ll go into detail on what to expect at every exhibit with plenty of pretty pictures.
Athletic Forest
The Athletics Forest is a creative athletic space where you can immerse yourself completely in a physically challenging three-dimensional area filled with interactive art. It’ll be good spatial awareness training, too. The Athletic Forest area will include:
Aerial Climbing through a Flock of Colored Birds
Enjoy horizontal bars of varying colours suspended by ropes and float three-dimensionally in the air. Use the bars to navigate through the space mid-air across the three dimensions. When the bars are climbed, they shine brightly producing a special sound based on the colour.
Antigravity Universe – Ovoids
This room contains a group of giant ovoids that continuously rise and fall, and when you push them and interact with them, they change colour and emit a tone specific to that colour. The surrounding ovoids also respond one after another, shining brightly and emitting the same colour and tone, resonating continuously in the space.
Multi Jumping Universe
A flexible surface that multiple people can jump on, allowing you to sink or jump higher than usual.
Rapidly Rotating Bouncing Spheres in the Caterpillar House
This space is made of spheres that visitors can jump on. The spheres rotate at high speed, however as people approach them, they stop allowing you to step on them safely. When the spheres are bounced on, they shine, and spheres of the same colour will pop and particles of light will show.
Soft Terrain in Granular Topography – A Whole Year per Year
A three-dimensional shape that is soft consisting of various granules of light from high to low. Here, the ground sinks beneath people and light gathers. The colours change with the seasons.
Borderless World
In this exhibition space, explore a continuous world without boundaries created by multiple artworks, 81 to be exact. You’ll be able to sense the freedom and connectivity that life has to offer, all while building relationships with others. Artworks will include the teamLab Borderless Jeddah exclusive artwork “Persistence of Life in the Sandfall”, “Universe of Fire Particles” and more.
En Tea House
This tea house inside the art space is all about, well, making tea, as well as flowers blooming inside your teacup. You’ll be able to enjoy your fragrant drink with the beautiful colours of various flowers.
Future Park
An experimental educational project, this space will allow you to collaborate with others to create different set ups together. It is an amusement park where people can enjoy creating the world freely together. The amusement park will include activities like the Building Block City, Sketch Ocean and more.
Forest of Lamps
Well, as the name suggests, this space will be a forest of hanging lamps. You’ll be entering a space lit up to the tee.
Sketch Factory
Here, you turn your Sketch Ocean drawings into an item to take home with you such as a badge, hand towel, T-shirt or tote bag.
