The long weekend is finally here – hurrah! Just like you, us here at Time Out Dubai are also looking forward to the Eid Al Adha break.

The weather might be a bit hotter than we’d like, but it’s not stopping us from making the most of what the city has to offer.

If you like reading this, then you’ll love: The best things to do over Eid Al Adha in Dubai

So hear it from the horse’s mouth. We’re giving you an inside look into the diaries of team Time Out Dubai, to find out what we’ve got in store for the next few days.

Where I’m going: Home

I’m going home for the Eid break to Cape Town, South Africa, to celebrate with my family. Oh, the perks of the generous public holidays in Dubai!

What I’m eating: Pastries on the go

I have a morning flight from DXB so I’ll be popping by Caffè Nero for an iced latte and a fresh pastry. I may get one for the road, too! If the flight’s delayed, then I’ll be making a beeline straight to Five Guys, which recently opened in Terminal 3.

My order: a takeaway grilled cheese toastie and one of their super chocolate milkshakes.

If you’re travelling too for Eid Al Adha, you can check out everywhere to eat in DXB here.

There’s no way I’m missing: DXB Duty Free

If I’m travelling, it’s absolutely essential that I find a good book at Dubai Duty Free for the plane ride (you can only watch so many The Big Bang Theory re-runs).

Where I’m going: Blended Wellness

A deep tissue massage and facial are my long weekend highlights this Eid Al Adha. Blended Wellness at Dukes The Palm offers great value treatment packages you just can’t say no to. I’m looking forward to probably falling asleep on the bed with a lymphatic full body massage, while my skin is restored to glowing health (one hopes) with a brightening skin facial. If you are in the market for a spa treatment too this weekend, Dubai is offering plenty. Click here to find your favourite spa treatment in Dubai.

From Dhs600 (massage and facial). Open daily, 7am-9pm. Blended Wellness, Dukes The Palm (04 423 8313)

Where I’m eating: Jones The Grocer

There’s a lot of buzz around Jones The Grocer’s cheese and grape evenings and I am not surprised. I’m heading to Jones The Grocer’s Palm West Beach hotspot for a sunset edition of tucking into a plate of artisanal produce with a cheese knife in hand. Plus, I’ve just learnt that for an extra Dhs45, grape becomes unlimited.

Tempted to do the same? There are plenty of dedicated cheese evenings dotted around the city to gather your friends together. Click here for the best cheese and grape evenings in Dubai.

From Dhs199. Fri 7.30pm-10pm. Jones the Grocer, Palm Jumeirah, jonesthegrocer.com (054 998 6162)

There’s no way I’m missing: my fortnightly manicure at SOAK

Call me shallow, but no matter how hot it is outside, I will always venture out to make sure my nails are chip-free and manicured. SOAK salon in Jumeirah is the latest salon to hit my Instagram feed for its chic interiors and colour palette. If you’re into nails like me you’ll be pleased to know SOAK is a Gel Bottle and BIAB specialist, so your hands are in safe, well, hands. The question is, which shade do I go for this time?

Prices vary. Open daily, 10am-10pm. SOAK Salon, 16C St, Jumeirah 1 (056 800 6111).

Where I’m going: Ernst Biergarten

We are spoiled for choice over where to watch the Euros in Dubai, but my pick for a taste of Germany is Ernst Biergarten at 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central. Currywurst and a pint, it’s basically like we’re in Munich.

Sun-Thurs noon-midnight, Fri-Sat noon-1am. 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central, Trade Centre St. ernstbiergarten.com (04 210 2511).

What I’m eating: Daikan Izakaya

As my bio states, I am on a never-ending quest to find the best ramen in town. I’ll be checking out the newly-opened Daikan Izakaya in City Walk. Hopefully, I can pick up some tips for any of my (less good) homegrown efforts.

Daily noon-midnight. City Walk. daikan.ae (052 703 8369).

There’s no way I’m missing: The chance to take more time off

If you’re a regular reader of Time Out Dubai then you’ll have noticed our Get 9 days off for Eid Al Adha using just 3 days of annual leave piece which was inspired by my accidental booking of time off. Why did I need that time off? Well, anyone who knows me will be only too aware that I am a football obsessive – particularly when it comes to the Scotland national team. And with the Euros falling during Eid al Adha and all of Scotland’s group matches being at 11pm Dubai time, it just made sense to take the day after the matches off!

Where I’m going: The 305

I’ll be staying in Dubai for the holiday, so you’ll most likely find me with an iced vanilla latte at The 305 Beach Club first thing. The Miami vibes are giving a getaway without the airfare, and the pool is perfect for cooling off in between sunbathing sessions. If I can, I’ll stick around all day to wait for that West Beach sunset, it’s worth it!

Dhs200 (weekdays), Dhs250 (weekends). Sun-Thurs 9am-10pm, Fri-Sat 9am-midnight. The Club, Palm West Beach, Palm Jumeirah.solutions-leisure.com (04 423 8322).

Where I’m eating: Pierchic

The Chic Lunch deal at Pierchic has my name all over it. For Dhs160, you get three courses from the set menu – I can tell you already I’m ordering the burrata, and the fusilli pesto, to be polished off by my all-time favourite dessert, the tiramisu. All this while looking over the water onto the Burj Al Arab, it’s bliss.

Dhs135 (two courses), Dhs160 (three courses). Mon-Fri, 1pm-2.30pm. Pierchic, Jumeirah Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah. jumeirah.com (800 323 232).

There’s no way I’m missing: Eid Al Adha fireworks

It’s not a proper celebration without a fireworks display. RIVERLAND Dubai is hosting two shows over the weekend, so I’ll be getting there early for a good spot. There’s even a Bollywood performance before the 7.30pm display which should be a great watch.

June 16-17, 9.15pm. RIVERLAND Dubai, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Sheikh Zayed Road. dubaiparksandresorts.com (800 262 9464).

Where I’m going: Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

This Eid break I will be going to the adults pool at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah. It’s one of my favourite hotels in Dubai and I have a Privilee membership which will give me free access. There, I plan to read a badly written book, eat a poke bowl and enjoy some time in the sun.

Love pizza? 31 best places to get a slice of pizza in Dubai

Dhs300 (Dhs150 redeemable towards food and beverage). Daily from 9am-8pm. Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

What I’m eating: Za Za Slice

The one place I can’t wait to go back to for a bite is Za Za Slice. I’ll be ordering one of the ‘red’, one slice of the Margherita and one of the ‘pep’. I love Za Za because you can try a bunch of different flavours without committing to an entire pizza. I also love the cacio e pepe fries and the insanely addictive pepperoni chips.

Tue-Sun 6pm-midnight. South Heights Tower A , Shop 04, Jumeirah Garden City @zazaslice

There’s no way I’m missing: Matcha

Grabbing a matcha latte in the morning. My favourite matcha spot opens after 8am, which is too late for me to visit during the week since we start our work days at 8am. Ted’s Bakehouse is a hidden café in Al Sufouh and it makes a mean iced matcha latte that goes down super smooth. I usually get it with coconut milk and a splash of syrup for a little bit of sweetness. If I’m craving something sweet, I usually also order a cookie and enjoy a moment of peace with my matcha.

Open daily from 8am-10am. Al Sufouh Gardens, Al Sufouh @tedsbakehouse.
