7 ways to prep your car for summer in the UAE
Don’t leave your car vulnerable to thieves
In an effort of safety, you can apply a steering lock to your car to deter thieves. The locking system around the wheel will put most off bothering to enter your vehicle and mean they won’t get very far if they do. You can pick one up in Carrefour for Dhs214 or order one from Amazon.ae.
Don’t forget to check your tyre pressure
As the floor heats up, so does the pressure on your tyres. Before you leave for your holiday, make sure you’ve checked your tyre pressure so you’re not welcomed home by any nasty blowouts.

Don’t leave your battery connected
The hot temperature can often mean car batteries go flat. If you’re planning on travelling for longer than one month, you can prevent this by disconnecting your battery. A simple job, all you need to do is pop the boot and remove the negative first, followed by the positive.
If you’re travelling for less than one month, be sure your battery is in good working order before you leave and keep your car shaded from the sun.
Don’t park your car out of the shade
Obvious, but important, parking your car in a shaded area can prevent damage from the sun and sand. If you have a garage or underground car parking spot, you’re sorted. If not, you can get a shade installed outside your villa from local companies including Palm Shades.
There are a number of indoor storage units you can leave your car in for a daily fee. Along with the Dubai Airport car park which offers spaces by the day.
Don’t leave your car unprotected from sunlight
Much like wearing SPF, window tint and car shades will help protect your car from harmful UV rays. You can purchase car shades from most supermarkets and online shops.
Don’t leave the windows closed
You can create a ventilation system within your car by leaving one of the windows slightly open. This will allow the hot air to flow through your vehicle rather than getting trapped inside.
Don’t leave it running low on fuel
This might sound counterintuitive if you’re planning on being away for a while, but fuel tanks that are left empty can rust. Before you travel it’s recommended you fill your tank to prevent damage.
