Barsha Heights is on the up.
Home to cool one-off eateries, incredible pubs and some great salons, there’s no denying that Barsha Heights is a popular area to live in and dine in.
Formerly known (and loved) as TECOM after the free zone authority that founded the area, it’s home to residential and office buildings (and some of the best pubs in town, might we add).
The urban community is a popular area to live in, mainly due to its central location along Sheikh Zayed Road and just steps away from the Dubai Metro, and the fact that rent prices are lower compared to nearby areas such as The Greens.
And what it lacks in pedestrian walkways and lush green landscaping (they’re working on it), the neighbourhood more than makes up for in little one-off eateries, supermarkets and salons.
In fact, there’s a pretty global dining offering packed into the ’hood, as you’ll see in these five top picks right here. If you’re looking to take your next trip to Barsha Heights to the next level (sorry), here’s where to get started.
Dukkan El Baba
For homely, comforting Lebanese bites at affordable pricing, Dukkan El Baba is one of the best places for cheap eats in Dubai. A cute, low-key spot that opened in early 2023, Dukkan El Baba has a regular menu plus regular specials and dishes of the day – meaning you can make repeat visits and always try something different. The menu is a mix of hot, cold and saucy. Some of our favourites are Lebanese vine leaves, stuffed courgette, aubergine fatteh, chicken shish tawook and delicious shawarma. Don’t miss it if you want terrific Lebanese food, for less.

Fibber Magee’s
For more than 28 years, this gloriously Irish pubby pub has kept us well fed and watered. And now, Fibber Magee’s has officially opened its second location in Dubai. It took over the space once occupied by The Crown & Lion’ in Barsha Heights. The Crown & Lion, in Social Hotel (formerly Byblos Hotel), was an iconic British pub, much loved by expats and tourists. Today that space officially belongs to Fibber Magee’s. The second Barsha Heights location is a copy and paste of the award-winning Trade Centre pub, offering the same promotions, delicious breakfasts and a host of live music. Patrons can enjoy a daily, eight-hour happy hour, Monday madness, All Ireland Night (hello Dhs28 pints), thirsty Thursday brunch, business lunch and Sunday roasts.

Lock, Stock & Barrel
A behemoth of the Dubai nightlife scene, we can’t think of many venues in Barsha Heights better for a night out. We’re massive fans of this place owing to its fun-loving vibe, decent drinks deals, pool tables, telly screens and stellar grub. Our advice? Tuck into the loaded nachos, they’re as tasty as they are towering.
