UAE Fuel Prices for September 2024: A Welcome Drop in Costs
As we step into September, it’s that time again when the United Arab Emirates announces its fuel prices, and this month brings good news for drivers across the nation. Petrol prices are set to decrease, making it a more affordable time to fill up your tank.
The UAE federal government, through its petroleum corporation Emarat, reveals the new fuel prices at the end of each month. Here are the petrol and diesel prices for September:
- Super 98: Now priced at Dhs2.90 per litre, down from Dhs3.05 in August.
- Special 95: Now available for Dhs2.78 per litre, a decrease from Dhs2.93 last month.
- E-Plus 91: Reduced to Dhs2.71 per litre, compared to Dhs2.86 in August.
- Diesel: Now costs Dhs2.78 per litre, down from Dhs2.95 in August.
The new rates will take effect on Sunday, September 1, 2024. After a summer that saw slight increases in fuel prices, this reduction is a welcome change, especially following the dips we experienced in June and July.
With the fluctuation in petrol prices, taxi fares in Dubai are also impacted, with the current rate standing at Dhs2.14 per kilometre. It remains to be seen if the new petrol prices will lead to adjustments in taxi fares.
Since the policy change in 2015, the UAE has adapted to a monthly review of petrol prices in alignment with global market trends. The peak for fuel prices in the UAE occurred in July 2022, with Super 98 reaching an all-time high of Dhs4.63 per litre. However, 2023 saw petrol prices peak again in October before experiencing a decline in the following months.
