The United Arab Emirates recently experienced a frenzy as Coldplay announced four highly anticipated shows in Abu Dhabi. The excitement was palpable as hundreds of thousands of tickets were made available for the concerts at the iconic Zayed Sports City Stadium. However, many fans found themselves disheartened when they were unable to secure tickets amidst the overwhelming demand.
The tickets for the Coldplay gigs on Thursday, January 9, Saturday, January 11, Sunday, January 12, and Tuesday, January 14, 2025, sold out almost instantaneously. Countless fans spent hours in the virtual queue on Ticketmaster, only to be met with disappointment. In their quest for entry, some desperate fans turned to unofficial sources in search of tickets, unaware of the potential pitfalls.
The official ticket seller, Ticketmaster, has issued a stern warning against purchasing tickets from unauthorized sellers, emphasizing that doing so may result in obtaining counterfeit tickets, rendering them invalid for entry into the stadium despite the often inflated prices paid. All tickets for the Abu Dhabi shows will be digital and can exclusively be transferred through Ticketmaster’s Ticket Transfer service to friends and family. Moreover, the actual tickets will not be dispatched until just days before the event, meaning anyone attempting to resell tickets is likely acting in bad faith.
A statement on the Ticketmaster website cautions fans against falling victim to third-party sellers. It reads: “Fans are strongly advised against purchasing tickets from Viagogo. These tickets are unlawfully resold by deceitful sellers at multiple times the face value and are not legitimate tickets. Should you purchase these tickets, you will be denied entry into the venue and will not be entitled to a refund.”
Coldplay Digital Tickets Explained
If you have successfully purchased a ticket for the event but are concerned about not receiving a physical one, there is no need to worry. Entry will be exclusively via digital tickets; thus, a paper ticket will not be issued. The digital tickets will be mobile entry only, meaning your smartphone will serve as your ticket for entry.
Your scannable ticket will be accessible through the app and will become available 72 hours before the concert. It is advisable for concertgoers to view their ticket in the app prior to arriving at the venue to avoid any potential internet connectivity issues on the day of the show.
Why No Emirates ID Exclusive Sale for Coldplay in Abu Dhabi?
Many fans expressed their disappointment on social media, particularly on the Time Out Dubai platforms, regarding the absence of an exclusive ticket sale for Emirates ID holders. Unfortunately, this option is not feasible at the moment, as Coldplay’s ticket sales for their shows worldwide are open to fans from all locations.
Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour has gained immense popularity, featuring numerous performance dates in every city the band is set to visit. For those eager to attend a Coldplay concert, there are still options available abroad, which we have compiled in a comprehensive guide.
