A New Architectural Marvel: The Muraba Veil in Dubai
In the vibrant city of Dubai, where architectural wonders are a common sight, a new skyscraper is set to make waves with its unique design. The Muraba Veil, a project by Dubai-based property firm Muraba, has unveiled plans for an “unusually narrow” tower that promises to captivate onlookers. Designed by the acclaimed Spanish architecture firm RCR Arquitectes, this impressive structure will reach a height of 73 storeys.
Standing tall at 380 meters, the most striking feature of the Muraba Veil is its slender width, measuring just 22.5 meters—equivalent to the size of a single apartment. This distinctive shape is not only visually stunning but also practical, offering a new perspective on urban living.
Inside the Muraba Veil, residents will find an array of luxurious living options, with a total of 131 residences available, ranging from two-bedroom to five-bedroom apartments. The building will be equipped with a plethora of amenities designed to enhance the lifestyle of its residents, including:
- A wellness spa
- A gourmet restaurant
- An art gallery
- A padel court
- A private cinema
However, such luxury comes at a price, with apartments starting from a staggering Dhs 18 million. According to the design team, the Muraba Veil aims to rise above the sandy dunes of Dubai, standing out amidst the city’s iconic skyline. A statement from the designers describes the tower as, “Awe-inspiring yet understated,” emphasizing its ability to draw attention while maintaining a sense of elegance.
The building is enveloped in a unique stainless steel mesh veil that is both porous and adaptive, reflecting the varying shades of the sky and creating a dynamic interaction with its surroundings. This innovative design approach not only enhances aesthetics but also minimizes the building’s visual footprint amidst Dubai’s architectural extravaganza.
The Muraba Veil is rooted in a deep respect for traditional architecture, taking inspiration from domestic designs that have stood the test of time. This commitment to blending modernity with tradition ensures that the structure meets fundamental human needs for safety, privacy, and a connection to nature. The interiors will draw heavily from the essence of traditional Arabian homes, featuring shaded areas and lush greenery that lead to a serene inner courtyard.
Each of the 131 exclusive residences will take full advantage of the building’s width, providing spacious, deep, and high rooms that offer a perfect retreat from the external heat while maximizing comfort. The skyscraper will be strategically located alongside Sheikh Zayed Road, providing residents with breathtaking views of the iconic Burj Khalifa.
As for the completion timeline, no definitive date has been set. Both Muraba and RCR Arquitectes emphasize their dedication to quality, taking the necessary time to perfect every aspect of their projects. Rafael Aranda, Founder of RCR Arquitectes, expressed a commitment to cultural sensitivity, stating, “We are passionate about ensuring our buildings are responsive to the place, that they belong to the site and the native landscape where they are situated. They must communicate with nature and be infused with the atmosphere of the local culture.”
