Exciting Events for Public Transport Day in Dubai

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has exciting plans lined up for next week, offering a chance for commuters to win incredible prizes. In anticipation of Public Transport Day on Friday, November 1, the RTA is launching a week-long initiative that encourages the use of its various transportation services, including the metro, tram, and buses. Participants could potentially earn over a million nol+ points and other substantial rewards.

From Monday to Friday next week, the RTA will host a variety of challenges and activities aimed at promoting public transport usage. Among the enticing rewards are gold, cash prizes, and an impressive total of more than one million nol+ points available for public transport users.

As part of the celebrations, the RTA will honor the most frequent users of public transport across six distinct categories. From each category, three winners will be declared “Public Transport Champions.” This year marks the 15th anniversary of Public Transport Day in Dubai, a significant occasion that aligns with the anniversary of the Dubai Metro system’s launch.

From October 28 to November 1, the RTA will unveil a range of events and activities in celebration of the 15th Public Transport Day, which is celebrated annually on November 1. This year’s theme is “Good for you, Great for Dubai.” Below are the six categories for recognition:

  • The most frequent user since the inception of Public Transport Day in 2009 until Friday, November 1, 2024.
  • The most frequent user during the week of Public Transport Day 2024.
  • The most frequent user among RTA employees.
  • The most frequent user among People of Determination.
  • The most frequent user among senior citizens.
  • The most frequent user among students.

Those crowned as Public Transport Champions will receive a significant amount of nol+ points, which can be utilized at various merchants throughout the city and for public transport services. Specifically, the first-place winner will be awarded 1 million nol+ points, the second-place winner will receive 500,000 nol+ points, and the third-place finisher will be granted 250,000 nol+ points. All three winners will be celebrated in a special ceremony.

One of the key highlights of the event is the “Mysterious Man Challenge,” a collaboration with the Arabian Radio Network (ARN). Participants in this challenge will have to spot a mysterious figure in metro stations over three days, from Wednesday, October 30, to Friday, November 1. Each day will feature one winner who will receive a cash prize of Dhs10,000. On Public Transport Day, the winner will also receive an additional bonus of a 50-gram gold bar, along with the cash prize.

Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, the CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Sector of the RTA, emphasized that this year’s theme aims to inspire residents and visitors to contribute to making Dubai the best city in the world for living. He encouraged everyone to opt for RTA’s public transport services, which encompass the metro, tram, public buses, marine transport, and other sustainable mobility options such as bicycles and e-scooters, to facilitate easy access to public transport stations and stops across the city.
