Can you believe we are already in November? The year seems to be flying by, and we are now in the bustling stretch of the year. In 2024, we’ve enjoyed several bumper public holidays in the UAE, with Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha granting us ample time away from the office. While we might not see holidays as long as those in April, there are still a few days off to anticipate this year. Next up is the National Day long weekend in December, which promises a fantastic four-day holiday.
Long Weekends in the UAE for 2024
UAE National Day: A Four-Day Long Weekend
The UAE National Day, celebrated on December 2, is set to be the final official holiday of the year, and it’s great news—it’s another long weekend! National Day falls on a Monday this year, with both Monday, December 2, and Tuesday, December 3, designated as public holidays. When combined with the Saturday-Sunday weekend, this results in a delightful four-day break for residents of the UAE. Additionally, the country will observe Commemoration Day on Saturday, November 30, although this day will not be a public holiday.
UAE Public Holidays for 2025
The UAE government has unveiled its public holiday schedule for 2025, allowing us to start planning for the upcoming year. We can expect at least 12 public holidays throughout the UAE in 2025, and there might even be an additional day off if Ramadan spans 30 days, as it did in 2024. Although the exact dates will depend on moon sightings as the year progresses, we do have a list of occasions for which we will have time off:
- January 1, 2025: New Year’s Day
- Ramadan 29: Eid Al Fitr holiday
- Ramadan 30: If Ramadan is a 30-day month
- Shawwal 1: Eid Al Fitr holiday
- Shawwal 2: Eid Al Fitr holiday
- Shawwal 3: Eid Al Fitr holiday
- Dhu Al Hijjah 9: Arafat Day
- Dhu Al Hijjah 10: Eid Al Adha
- Dhu Al Hijjah 11: Eid Al Adha
- Dhu Al Hijjah 12: Eid Al Adha
- Muharram 1: Islamic New Year
- Rabi Al Awwal 12: Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday
- December 2: UAE National Day
- December 3: UAE National Day
