As we approach the end of 2024, the UAE Cabinet has officially confirmed a total of 14 public holidays for both the public and private sectors across the emirates. So, when is the next public holiday in the UAE? The final holiday of the year is just around the corner, with the UAE National Day celebrations scheduled for Monday, December 2, and Tuesday, December 3. This year, we are in for an extended break, enjoying a delightful four-day weekend, thanks to the inclusion of Saturday, which marks UAE Commemoration Day, and Sunday.
Many residents are likely already planning their festivities for the National Day, but the question on everyone’s mind is: what comes next after the UAE National Day? The good news is that the wait won’t be long at all.

When is the Next UAE Public Holiday?
With the UAE National Holiday wrapping up our public holiday calendar for 2024 on December 2 and 3, our sights now turn to 2025 for the next major break. While UAE Commemoration Day falls on Saturday, November 30, it is not designated as a public holiday. The first day of 2025, however, will be a public holiday, as Wednesday, January 1, is a day off for both public and private sectors. This means your week will be pleasantly interrupted by a holiday, allowing you to recover from the New Year’s Eve celebrations and the spectacular fireworks displays in Dubai.
Following the New Year, the next anticipated public holiday is Eid Al-Fitr, which is expected to fall earlier in the year in 2025 compared to 2024. In 2024, Eid Al-Fitr was celebrated with a generous five-day holiday, and we hope to see a similar duration in 2025.
It’s worth noting that a new law introduced in 2025 states that if a public holiday coincides with the weekend, it can now be moved to the beginning of the following week. This means that if the Islamic New Year falls on a Saturday or Sunday next year, the public holiday could be shifted to either the start or the end of the next week.
Predicted Public Holidays in 2025
