Dubai is set to celebrate its 53rd National Day, also known as Eid Al Etihad, on Monday, December 2. This occasion is a time of joy and pride for the city, marking the unification of the seven Emirates into one nation. Residents and visitors alike will enjoy a four-day long weekend, beginning with UAE Commemoration Day on Saturday, November 30, and continuing through to Tuesday, December 3. This extended holiday provides the perfect opportunity to partake in various festive events and activities throughout the city. You can find an array of exciting things to do over the weekend.
In preparation for the celebrations, the UAE’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) has announced important guidelines designed to prioritize health and safety during the festivities. These directives are particularly focused on drivers and their behavior during the Eid Al Etihad celebrations, which were previously referred to as UAE Union Day.
In a recent social media update, the MOI shared these regulations to ensure a lawful and respectful celebration. Here are the key guidelines to keep in mind:
Do this:
- Abide by all traffic rules and follow the instructions given by police personnel.
- Ensure that your vehicle’s front and rear license plates are clearly visible.
- Keep the volume of music, songs, and chants low, ensuring they are related to Eid Al Etihad.
- Wear scarves specifically designed for the Eid Al Etihad celebrations.
What’s not allowed?
- Avoid organizing or participating in spontaneous marches and gatherings.
- Refrain from using any type of party spray, whether you are a motorist, passenger, or pedestrian.
- Do not change the color of your vehicle.
- Avoid tinting or darkening your front windows.
- Do not write inappropriate phrases or place inappropriate stickers on your vehicle.
- Refrain from performing stunts on internal or external roads.
- Vehicles should not be equipped with noise-enhancing materials or unlicensed modifications that restrict visibility.
- Motorists must not disrupt traffic or block the flow of other vehicles.
- Do not place stickers, signs, or logos of any kind on your vehicle unless they are specifically for Eid Al Etihad and comply with the established guidelines.
- Only raise the flag of the UAE; other flags are not permitted.
- Shop owners and drivers are prohibited from displaying any stickers or flags unrelated to Eid Al Etihad, the UAE flag, or appropriate decorations.
- Avoid covering your vehicle’s side, front, or rear windows with stickers, and refrain from using sunshades that obstruct visibility.
Failure to comply with these regulations may result in immediate fines and the impounding of the involved vehicle, as stated by the MOI. Additionally, shops that do not adhere to these rules may face penalties.
This Monday marks a significant milestone for the UAE as it commemorates its 53rd National Day. The official Eid Al Etihad ceremony will take place in Al Ain, celebrating the unity of the Emirates. The ceremony will be broadcast live across various local TV channels, on the event’s YouTube channel, in selected cinemas, and in public areas throughout the UAE. Further details on viewing venues will be shared soon, so stay tuned for updates. Previous broadcasts and repeat viewings will also be available on the official Eid Al Etihad website.
