Dubai Launches New Bus Routes to Enhance Public Transport
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has unveiled three exciting new bus routes designed to improve connectivity across the city. Notably, one of these routes offers a direct link between a bustling neighborhood and the popular tourist destination, Global Village.
Starting on Friday, November 29, Route 108 will provide residents of Satwa with easy access to Global Village, especially during peak visitation times. This new bus service will operate on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and during special events, kicking off with the UAE National Day celebrations. The route will run from 2 PM to 1 AM the following day, featuring 11 trips in each direction with a frequency of approximately 60 minutes. The service will begin at Satwa Bus Station and make stops at Global Village, catering to both locals and tourists alike.
In addition to the Global Village route, the RTA has introduced two additional bus services aimed at alleviating traffic congestion on Dubai’s busy roads. The first of these is the F63 route, serving as a metro feeder service that connects Al Ras Metro Station on the Dubai Metro Green Line to Union Bus Station via Al Khaleej Street and Naif Street. This service is crucial for enhancing public transport options within the area surrounding each metro station.
The third new route, designated as Route J05, will establish a link between Mira Community and Dubai Studio City, passing through Neshama Townhouses along the way. This route aims to improve accessibility for residents in these developing areas.
As part of its commitment to enhancing public transport, the RTA has also announced upgrades to nine existing bus routes, ensuring a more comfortable travel experience for commuters. The modifications include:
- Route 5: Now operates in both directions between Abu Hail Bus Station and Union Bus Station, no longer serving Al Ras Metro Station.
- Route 14: Adjusted to operate in two directions, terminating at Business Bay Metro Station.
- Route 33: Shortened to end at Karama Bus Station instead of Al Ghubaiba Bus Station.
- Route 91: Now covers Business Bay towards Jebel Ali Bus Station, serving the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre stop in both directions.
- Route J02: Shortened to expedite travel between Arabian Ranches and Dubai Production City.
- Route J04: Updated to include Sports City while reducing stops in Dubai Studio City.
- Route F38: Adjusted to serve Al Jurf Heights Group.
- Route F39: Now includes a stop at Etihad Mall.
- Route X92: Serves DMCC Metro Stop on the way to Al Ghubaiba Bus Station and reduces stops at Dubai Investment Park.
Furthermore, the RTA plans to enhance an additional 30 bus routes to better synchronize with arrival times, ensuring efficient travel for all passengers. These routes include 7, 13D, 14, 20A, 21A, 21B, 30, 32C, 33, 34, 43, 44, 63E, 67, 91, DH1, E700, F05, F07, F26, F23, F38, F39, F54, F63, J01, J02, J04, J05, and X92.
