The prestigious Hero Dubai Desert Classic, renowned as the oldest golf tournament in the Middle East, is set to make its highly anticipated return later this month. This 36th edition, taking place from Thursday, January 16 to Sunday, January 19, promises to bring together an impressive lineup of elite golfers from around the globe. With a staggering prize pool exceeding Dhs33 million, the tournament is poised to attract top-ranked players, including the Northern Irish sensation Rory McIlroy, who will be defending his title after clinching victory for the fourth time earlier this year. Joining him will be other golf luminaries such as Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood.
What makes this event even more exciting is that fans can witness all the thrilling action without spending a dirham. Yes, general admission to the Hero Dubai Desert Classic is free, which is certainly better than a hole-in-one (at least in terms of value)! Get ready to tee off and enjoy an unforgettable experience.
Ticketing Information
This year’s general admission remains complimentary, but premium options are available for those looking for a more luxurious experience. The clubhouse, Dallah Lounge, and The Social on Sixteen offer exclusive packages for avid golf fans. You can secure your free general admission tickets here. The tournament town will also be open for free, allowing those without tickets to partake in the lively festivities featuring live entertainment that will be announced as the event approaches.
Beyond the chance to see golf’s finest, attendees can enjoy live music, a dedicated kids’ zone, and a variety of delectable food and drink options throughout the four-day event, all hosted at the scenic Majlis Course of Emirates Golf Club. For those who prefer indoor comfort, clubhouse access is available for Dhs250 per day. Special hospitality packages at the Dallah Lounge span all four tournament days, offering afternoon tea, premium drinks, fine dining, and an excellent viewing location. Rates for these packages start at Dhs2,800 for a single day and Dhs9,750 for the entire season, so fans are encouraged to book early, as these popular packages sold out swiftly last year.
In 2025, a new option called “The Social On Sixteen” will debut, allowing fans to enjoy a breathtaking view from the 16th green along with a four-hour free-flowing drinks package and premium dining choices. This drinks package will run from noon to 4 PM, but tickets are limited, with prices starting at Dhs695.
Additionally, this year’s tournament will introduce the innovative “Step Fore It” challenge, encouraging both players and spectators to track their steps during the event. Daily prizes will be awarded to the top three participants who submit their step counts by the designated times throughout the tournament.
Transportation to the Event
Located just a stone’s throw from Al Khail Metro Station, Emirates Golf Club is easily accessible. Tournament organizers recommend using public transport for a hassle-free experience. If you prefer to park-and-ride, free parking is available at Centrepoint Metro Station, Etisalat Metro Station, and Jabal Ali Station. For those wishing to drive directly to the club, limited on-site parking is offered for Dhs50.
Since its inception in 1989, the Dubai Desert Classic has established itself as a cornerstone of professional golf in the Middle East, attracting legendary names like Tiger Woods, Seve Ballesteros, and Ernie Els among its past champions. This year’s tournament is expected to showcase a similarly high caliber of talent. Rory McIlroy, the reigning champion, expressed his excitement about returning to Dubai, stating, “I’m thrilled to be returning to the Emirates Golf Club for the 2025 event. This is a tournament I relish playing, and continuing my run here by adding a fifth title would be really special and an ideal way to kick off 2025. The support we get in Dubai is always fantastic; it’s an incredible course with a great atmosphere, and I’m looking forward to what is always a competitive event.”
As a key fixture on the DP World Tour and part of the esteemed Rolex Series, the Dubai Desert Classic continues to play an instrumental role in promoting golf in the Middle East.
