UAE Public Holidays 2033: Anticipating Three Eids and Exciting Activities

There’s nothing that residents and visitors in the UAE cherish more than a well-deserved public holiday. We love helping you maximize the enjoyment of your time off! Each year, the UAE announces its public holidays, which encompass a delightful mix of Western and Islamic celebrations. Significant among these are the Eid holidays: Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. These holidays are determined by the Islamic Hijri calendar, which is based on lunar sightings, causing their dates to shift in relation to the Gregorian calendar annually.

Eid Al Fitr marks the joyous conclusion of Ramadan, the month of fasting, granting us three days of celebration and rest. Conversely, Eid Al Adha occurs after the completion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, offering an extended four-day break, which includes Arafat Day. Excitingly, in 2033, we are poised to celebrate three Eid holidays within the same year!

In 2033, we could potentially enjoy a remarkable 10 days off from just two occasions, provided the public holiday dates remain unchanged. The year is predicted to commence with the conclusion of Ramadan, which may fall on either Saturday, January 1, or Sunday, January 2, depending on whether the month encompasses 29 or 30 days. This will be followed by the commencement of Shawwal, leading to days off on Monday, January 3, Tuesday, January 4, and Wednesday, January 5.

Eid Al Adha will then take place on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah, with Arafat Day observed on Dhu Al Hijjah 9. The anticipated extended break for Eid Al Adha is expected to last for four days, commencing on Thursday, March 9, and concluding on Sunday, March 13. A recent amendment to the UAE public holiday law stipulates that if any Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha holidays coincide with the weekend, they cannot be rescheduled to another weekday.

Furthermore, in December 2033, we are also scheduled to celebrate the second Eid Al Fitr of the year, which is projected to begin on Friday, December 23. This leads to the delightful possibility that the second Eid Al Fitr festivities might conclude on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25. However, it’s important to note that these dates are not yet finalized and may shift depending on the length of the Hijri months in the upcoming years.

In the meantime, stay informed about your next UAE public holiday and plan your year ahead using this comprehensive guide to maximizing your annual leave.
