Dubai to Build the World’s Tallest Wellbeing Resort
Dubai has unveiled ambitious plans to construct the world’s tallest wellbeing resort, known as Therme Dubai. This groundbreaking project will feature an expansive interactive park, the largest indoor botanical garden globally, and three stunning waterfalls, each reaching a height of 18 meters. With an investment of Dhs2 billion, Therme Dubai will be located in Zabeel Park, one of the city’s largest green spaces, and is expected to open its doors in 2028.
In a recent announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed expressed his enthusiasm, stating that Therme Dubai will be “an iconic addition to Dubai’s skyline.” The resort is designed to accommodate approximately 1.7 million visitors annually.
Spanning an impressive 500,000 square feet, the resort will rise to a height of 100 meters. It will be divided into three main zones: Restore, Relax, and Play.
- Restore: This area will focus on rejuvenation, providing a serene escape within a thermal complex that includes saunas, steam rooms, and mineral treatment baths.
- Relax: Dedicated to adults, this section will feature both indoor and outdoor relaxation pools, mineral pools, steam rooms, and a variety of natural treatments.
- Play: A family-friendly zone that combines fun and entertainment with health-focused activities suitable for both adults and children.
The resort will also boast therapeutic areas and thermal pools, designed with a modern and sustainable architectural style, alongside multi-sensory saunas. A key highlight of the project will be a sprawling 4,500 square meter indoor pool and terrace, providing dynamic water environments year-round. Additionally, there will be a large play area featuring 15 exciting water slides and engaging art installations.
For those seeking relaxation, luxurious spa treatments inspired by traditional bathing customs from around the world will be available, including Roman and Turkish baths, Japanese hot springs, Turkish hammams, and Nordic saunas. The resort is committed to sustainability, with plans to recycle 90% of the water used in its thermal pools and meet 80% of its fresh air and cooling needs through clean energy sources.
In his post on X, the Crown Prince emphasized that the project is part of Dubai’s vision to become the world’s premier destination for living. He stated, “This innovative project reflects our commitment to enhancing urban biodiversity and environmental sustainability, while creating enriching experiences for both residents and visitors of Dubai.”
The announcement of Therme Dubai aligns with the city’s ongoing Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which aims to host over 1,000 annual events, develop more than 200 parks, and expand cycling tracks on beaches by 300 percent. Therme Dubai is poised to become a significant landmark and milestone within this strategic framework.
Therme is recognized as a global leader in urban wellbeing, with major developments already established in various locations worldwide. Existing wellbeing centers by the brand can be found in Bucharest, Romania, as well as Thermen & Badewelt Sinsheim and Badeparadies Schwarzwald Titisee in Germany. Additional wellbeing centers are planned for cities such as Glasgow in Scotland, Manchester in England, and Ontario in Canada.
